Bishop Ron Visits St. Luke’s Ministries in July

Bishop at St Lukes Ministries

Bishop Ron Jackson and his wife Patty had the pleasure of visiting St. Luke’s Ministries over the weekend of July 8-10. Bishop Ron and Patty met with Fr. Mike and Carol Kraynak on Friday, the Bishop met with the Vestry of St. Luke’s on Sunday and he had the great honor of preaching and presiding at the Table during Sunday worship.

These parish visitation are vitally important to the bishop and to the diocese. It is the Bishop’s promise that each parish in the diocese will receive a two day visit from either himself, Assisting Bishop Roger Ames or Assisting Bishop Peter Beckwith within the year. Furthermore, Bishop Ron has covenanted to visit each parish himself within the next two years. “I want the parishes to know their bishop and the bishop needs to know his parishes.”

Stockings for Seniors Prep Party Brings Cheer to All

Tina Fisher had a great idea this Advent:  to provide stockings for senior citizens in an assisted living community. She reached out to St. Luke’s for support, and also a long-distance parish, St. Augustine’s, in Columbus. After gathering all the needed goodies, the good people at St. Luke’s had a stuffing party on Friday night, December 11, 2015.

The Stocking for Seniors prep party was a great success! An overwhelming 26 people came and help stuff the stockings and wrap gifts that will be distributed to the Portage Trail Village Assisted Living Program. We had a time of prayer where we blessed all the gifts and then we shared a meal together.

Jesus asks us to be His hands and feet in the world. This time His good people used their talents to make Christmas brighter for those who need His love.

Advent Dinner 2015 at St. Luke’s Akron

A great time was had by all as we gathered last Saturday evening at the Ministry Center to celebrate the season of Advent and prepare for Christmas. We all shared in a delicious meal followed by some musical selections by Isabeau Jackson and Rebeccah Schmidt. St. Nicholas appeared with his famous gold chocolate coins and we finished the evening together by watching the movie, The Ultimate Gift.

Fresh Fire: A Conference on Healing

Fresh Fire

Hello! I am + Roger Ames, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes in the ACNA.  We comprise of over 55+ churches of all kinds and descriptions over a wide geographic area, from traditional congregations with building, to church plants meeting in rented space, to small missional communities meeting in homes.  What joins us together is out passion to reach our generation with the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached that transformed an entrenched pagan culture and spread throughout the then known world.  We believe GOD is doing it again!

What I have seen in the past two or three years as I have traveled about in the diocese and elsewhere is an increase in the power of God to heal when the Gospel is preached in the fullness of the Holy Spirit and where there is an expectation to encounter the Risen Lord.  Our healing teams at St. Luke’s have been experiencing a fresh anointing to impart this grace to others and it is this what we want to share with you!   It is my hope that you will join me for the Fresh Fire Conference, a conference for all our clergy, ( Priests, Deacons, Pastors of Congregations, Church Planters, and their spouses).

Registration is only $15.00, and includes a box lunch on Saturday.

I Remain Yours in the Power of the Risen Christ!
