Extraordinary Synod October 1 – 3, 2015

My Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Brother and Sisters I have received the following request from the chairman of our diocesan standing committee, Fr. Allen Kanapell.  I quote the opening paragraph:

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes, I formally request you to call for a synodical election of three candidates to be considered for the office of bishop in our diocese.   We recommend that this election take place at the pro-cathedral in Copley, Ohio on October 3.  These names will be passed on to the House of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America for further vetting, prayerful consideration, and their final choice.”  (This will take place at the College of Bishops meeting in January of 2016)

The following steps need to take place:

A.) Save the dates of the Fall Retreat, as previously noted in our calendar, for Thursday, October 1st – Saturday, October 3rd 2015 (voting will take place Saturday morning).

B.) Ensure that your delegates will be in attendance with you.

C.) I am requesting that you make every effort to participate in the network meetings that will be taking place between the latter part of August and the election the first weekend of October.

It is very necessary for you to have input into the nomination, selection, and finally the election process. You will need to be present from beginning at these regional network meetings.  The names and beginning vetting process for bishop candidates will take place at these meetings.   The chairman of the Standing/Search Committee will be working with the network leaders for a very specific process to take place in these meetings.  You will hear from Fr. Kannapell in the next couple of weeks about the time, the number of meetings, and location as we gear this process near the end of August and through September.

Registration, for this Extraordinary Election Synod, which is necessary for the voting process, will open online at www.ADGLSYNOD.com on August 15th.

My assistant, Tina Fisher, will be overseeing accommodations.   If you have further questions about accommodations and dates please call Tina in the office at 234.466.4026 or email her at TinaFisher1002@gmail.com

If you have questions regarding the search, and elections, You can contact Fr. Kannapell, (allenkannapell@yahoo.com , 734.716.5860 ) or your network leader (give him a couple of weeks to have had the area meeting).

I sincerely hope your summer is refreshing and like myself you are looking forward to what God is going to do in the coming months in the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes.

Yours in the Power in of the Risen Christ,
